"Change is coming: How to stay compliant with Google and Yahoo Q1 2024" "Email for Retail" background hands on a keyboard

Change is coming- is your brand ready?

One thing is inevitable in business - as soon as you learn the rules, they'll change.

Your email marketing is no different. Some big changes were recently announced on how Gmail and Yahoo will determine deliverability and sender reputation. These changes will affect most ecommerce stores, along with anyone else sending emails about their brand, so it's important to get them right.

If you're a current "Done-for-You" client of Email for Retail, then you can relax! I'll be working with you as needed to get the necessary updates made.

If you aren't, but you know you'll need some help with these changes, send us an email at hello@email4retail.com. We can schedule a time to go over the changes and get them running in your store. For the best results, you'll want any changes done in December (after BFCM sales), so that when Q1 begins, you'll be compliant.

The sheer number of Gmail and Yahoo email addresses is too vast to ignore, so don't wait! Let's book some time to get you caught up.

What's changing?

Here are the highlights:

-Dedicated send domains will be required for many senders (if you're not doing this already, you'll need to factor in several weeks to "warm up" the servers and complete this task. Email for Retail can walk you through it and get this working for you!)

-DMARC authentication needs proper set-up

-Unsubscribe requirements will be stricter. Klaviyo will be incorporating the "one-click" aspect of this for Klaviyo users. If you're using another email service provider (ESP), you'll want to make sure they have a one-click solution available for you, in addition to including unsubscribe links in the body of your messages

-Know your numbers: Spam complaints need to stay below 0.30% as monitored by Google

-Having your own domain for email is a must: "Gmail" and "Googlemail" email addresses will automatically send your marketing emails to spam. This is a big one for a lot of small brands I've worked with. If you aren't sure how to make this change, Email for Retail can walk you through the steps you need!

If you're using Klaviyo, that's all you need to worry about! If you're using another ESP, make sure they or you have a way to verify the following:

-SPF and DKIM authentication

-Valid forward and reverse DNS records

-Compliance with the Internet Messaging Format Standard

If all of this is a foreign language to you- don't panic! Reach out to us at hello@email4retail.com and we'll get this taken care of for your brand in a simple package.

Or, if you sign up for monthly "Done-for-You" services by November 13th, you'll receive this service included for free!

Running your brand is hard work. Let us help take this stress off your plate. There's nothing worse than spending time sending emails that go nowhere, so it's well worth the attention to address these changes before Google and Yahoo penalize your brand.

It's definitely inconvenient to get announcements like this in Q4. That's why it's important to have someone in your corner for support. Together, we can jump over this obstacle and keep your business on track for the growth and revenue you deserve!

Have thoughts? Let me know! Always happy to help.

Take care,
